Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is Studio 21?

Studio 21, (residential white house with blue sign indicating Weddings & Portraits Photographer)

21 Storey Street, (just off Apsley High Street) Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9SG

Q: How much does it cost?

ArtbyClaire currently does not charge for a Photo Shoot, or for a Location Shoot (although travel fee and deposit will apply in the case of a Location Shoot) but in both shoots ArtbyClaire requests a minimum spend should you decide you do wish to make a purchase (£80 for a Studio Portrait Shoot and £100 for a Location Shoot)

A: How long will the Photo Shoot last?

Photo Shoots last up to 30 minutes in the Studio. Location Shoots up to 45 minutes

Q: How many pictures will I get per shoot?

A: Normally you would expect anywhere between 60– 80 images per Studio Shoot and per Location Shoot.   All images uploaded to ArtbyClaire’s password protected website.

Q: What is the difference between a Photo Shoot at Studio 21 and a Photo Shoot at a location of our choosing?

The difference is that the Photo Shoot at Studio 21, Hemel Hempstead  will have options on a plain white or black background with a variety of studio props.  I will also be using studio flash photography.

A location shoot at your home or outdoors will have a more natural or outdoor feel as I am using a hand held camera.

Q: So it is okay to request a Location Shoot?

Absolutely.  If you would like ArtbyClaire to come to your house/location of your choice to do a photo shoot  in Hertfordshire, just let me know.

Q: Can I see samples of your work?

A: Yes indeed, go to ‘The Portraits Gallery’ where you will see heaps of examples of my work and view my testimonials.

Q: Who can I book in for my shoot?

You can book in for anyone, yourself, your partner, your kids, your entire family.

Q: Do you photograph pets?

A: Absolutely. Bring your pet along.

Q: Can I do a 'Boudoir' Shoot or a ' Mother and Baby/Bump Shoot'

A: Of course you can, just let me know what you are looking for so we can come up with some ideas together.

Q: How do l go about booking a shoot ?

A: Just send me your preferred dates and times and your details and who the shoot is for.

Q: What should l wear ?

A. Simplicity often works best, and if there are groups of you then sometimes a colour coordinated look can be great. Think about how you want to look – formal or informal? Jeans and white t-shirts and bare feet, or something more suited and booted or glamorous even!

On the other hand if you want to go crazy and have lots of colour, patterns, and shapes, then it can actually work but this may be a look for the more adventurous.

If you want to try a couple of different looks then feel free to bring a change of clothes.

For children and babies shoots if you want to make them really fun then think about some props - a colourful umbrella, or a funky hat, or shades or their favourite teddy bear and so on. Make sure they are well fed and watered and have had a sleep.

For little baby girls in particular who like to kick and flash their legs in the air - please think about what colour nappy/pants to put them in - as ideally it is great to coordinate this often overlooked fashion accessory!

Q: Do you have any other top tips?

For group portraits it is easiest if you write a list in advance of the people you want to be photographed to save on time on the day of your shoot.

If you prefer black and white prints ladies, then make your make up nice and natural - don't be too heavy on the lipstick.

Q: When do l get to see the photos ?

A: All your images will be available to view online within 1 or 2 weeks of your photo shoot and you will be given a password to access your photos.  You will be able to view them in colour, black and white and sepia.

Q: Can I come round to see the pictures and discuss my order with you in person?

You will be invited round to discuss your requirements with ArtbyClaire over a coffee and view your shoot on the big screen without the logos on the pictures - you will also be shown all the various options for your photographs, and see samples of canvas, albums, etc

* This is really helpful for anyone who is struggling to choose

Q: I already know what I want to order - can I do this by phone or email?

Absolutely - if you know what you want then just place an order by phone or email me.

Q: Do you do shoots and viewings on weekends and evenings ?

A: Canvas, Albums, - see Prices on my website

Q: I want an image cropped, resized, altered, swapping a head over to another picture etc, can I do this?

A: Yes of course, however this all constitutes additional work so you could be looking at £5 - £10 or more depending on amount of work involved per photo but you will be notified in advance.

Q: I want something really arty and creative - can you help?

A: ArtbyClaire is also an artist and can create something really unusual out of your images - just ask and you will be given a price for additional artwork.  ArtbyClaire can do Special Effects - just check out the gallery above. A: Yes you will need to make payment in advance for any orders placed. A Proforma Invoice will be sent out to you to confirm your order.

Q:Who gets to keep the copyright on my photos?

A: ArtbyClaire retains all copyright and in the happy event you want to publish your pictures in Hello Magazine, all you will need to do is ask ArtbyClaire's Permission.  Sometimes your images may be used to promote ArtbyClaire.

Q: How long do you keep my images on file ?

A: Your Images will be kept live for viewing on my website for up to six months & ArtbyClaire keeps most images definitely for one year or longer.   However I cannot promise to keep them forever.

Q: Can you post me items or do they have to be collected?

ArtbyClaire prefers that you collect your items due to the fragile nature of certain items, but if you require something to be posted to you, please let me know and you will be charged P&P
